Reels, TikTok or Shorts: where to post when starting out?

The strengths and weaknesses of each platform for a new account, and the strategy that multiplies your chances.

Not all short form platforms are equal when you start from zero. Here is where things take off fastest, and how not to choose.

TikTok: best for a cold start

TikTok pushes new accounts very aggressively. A first video can rack up tens of thousands of views without a single follower. If you had to pick one to start fast, this is it.

Instagram Reels: right behind

Reels distributes well to non followers and reaches a slightly older, more business minded audience. Reach is less wild than TikTok early on, but the audience often converts better for a product or brand.

YouTube Shorts: hard early, worth it long term

Shorts is the hardest cold start: it favors established channels. But once rolling, it sends traffic for months, and it connects your shorts to your long videos. It is a patience game.

The strategy: post everywhere

Do not choose. Edit your clip once and post it on all three. Same effort, three times the chance a video breaks through somewhere. A short that flops on one platform can explode on another.

Should you adapt per platform?

Early on, no: post the same clip everywhere and watch what works. Later you can fine tune (length, hook, hashtags) for the platform that brings you the most people, but do not get stuck on that at the start.

Turn one video into ten shorts

Posting on three platforms is simple when one click gives you ten clips. SignalHunter cuts, captions and reframes your long videos automatically.
